Bugün Cuma. Sabah saat 8 civarında kalktım. Banyoya gidip duşumu aldım ve hemen aşağı mutfağa indim. Ted uyanmıştı. Jan ise gitmişti. Ted, sırt ağrısından dolayı zor günler geçiriyordu; ama yine de işe gidiyordu; zira evde oturmaktan pek hoşlanmıyordu. Hem günlük olarak eve gelen The Daily Express gazetesini hem içlerinde ilandan başka pek fazla bir şey bulunmayan yerel gazetelerden Herald’ı okudum. 2 yumurta haşladım ve Kellogg’s kutusunu açıp ballı fıstıklı corn flake döktüm bir kaba. Birazda süt ekledim. Çay zaten hazırdı. Kettle’daki sıcak suyu bir bardağa boşaltıp içine bir poşet çay attın mı çay işi bitiyordu. Kahvaltımı böylece yaptım.
